And that, unfortunately, is what it means.  Only if the files are stored on
another server are they expired.  If you are doing like most of us, writing
the plans to files on the floppy or elsewhere, expiring them is your
responsibility.  And with the names as given that can be very hard to
automate.

Another thing I've noticed lately is the size the plan file growing.  This
is due to a number of things obviously, but the most notable is the
expansion in size of the volume history file.  I've found it a good idea to
periodically purge this file using delete volhist type=all todate=-30.  This
gets rid of all volhist records older than 30 days.  If you have a library
with relatively small tapes, like a 3575, your volhist file can be very
large.  I had a customer whose volhist file had grown to over 600KB.  A
purge as above reduced it to a more reasonable 60 KB.  Can anyone think of a
reason to keep more than 30 days worth of volhist records?
