Check your dsm.opt file.  It will have options like 'traceflag' and 'tracefile'.
Comment the lines out by putting '*' at the beginning of the line.  You didn't
say which platform you are on.  If you are on UNIX platforms, just putting a '*'
will stop creating the api trace file.  If you are on NT, you will need to
shutdown your databases, comment out the lines and startup the databases.
