ADSM Symposium at Oxford University : 29 September to 1 October 1999

'Growing the ADSM solution : Meeting the challenge'

ADSM today ... Tivoli Storage Management tomorrow
*************************************************

ADSM has evolved significantly since the first release of Version 1
in 1994. Both Version 2 in 1995 and Version 3 in 1998 brought major
functionality improvements but customer expectations, particularly
with respect to performance, have yet to be fulfilled.

ADSM has been marketed as the storage management product of choice
from the low end to the high. Those at the high end have seen the
product straining to keep pace with the number and type of computer
systems as well as the explosion in the volume of data that many
companies are faced with handling today, let alone tomorrow.

The recent move of the ADSM product from IBM SSD to Tivoli and the
next release of ADSM in September under the Tivoli brand can be
viewed as further enforcing the ideal that this is truly an
enterprise product.

Focus of the ADSM Symposium
***************************

This symposium aims to provide delegates with an opportunity to
discuss the challenges facing us today in taking ADSM the next step
on the way. Many of us have well established, large installations
and a wealth of storage management experience.

And yet we still face an uncertain future. Will the upcoming version
of ADSM, and future releases, enable us to handle the vast quantities
of data that are now common in the enterprise? What are the
bottlenecks and what can be done? How can we exploit emerging
technologies such as SAN?

These, and many other questions, can be debated with each other and
with the technical experts from IBM and Tivoli.

There will be an opportunity to see the new version of ADSM in action.
