We always check the option to delete existing, but it doesn't seem to change
things.  We have always kind of wondered why it is optional if it is known
that it won't work if you don't select that option.

We have tried various sequences of events, and followed the doc to the
letter, but we do not get consistent results.  Checking the MTA directory is
an interesting suggestion though, we haven't tried that one.  We are usually
starting with a "fresh" server, so I am not sure we will find anything
there, but I'll look at that on my next restore.
