Well, you have to "set accounting off" from within ADSM (from an admin
session) ya'know.
I do it on a monthly basis...
I wait until there are no currently active client sessions (to
minimize the chance of accounting information loss...)
set accounting off
copy dsmaccnt.log to temp
do a :
grep $(date +%m)\/..\/$(date +%Y) /tmp/dsmaccnt.log >
/usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin/dsmaccnt.log
then set accounting on
what the grep will do is take any current months data and plop it back
into the accounting log
then you can do the same grep with the -v option on the
/tmp/dsmaccnt.log to get last months accounting records isolated
(have to make sure and run it monthly

On AIX, what is the best/safest way to purge the activity log
(dsmaccnt.log) of records that are older than some specified date?
