When you restore an Exchange server. You have to restore it on the "same"
machine. In fact, in your case you have to make a mirror of the production
box.
Same Name, Same domain, Same FileSystem then restore Exchange DB. To do the
restore you have to do it on a separate network.
I agree that is not an easy operation. It is the same for all backup
product.
It is not due to adsm but to Exchange
