Re: Netware / Trustee Rights

Interesting. We have a sneaky suspicion that there is something up but we
have not been able to pinpoint if it is ADSM or not. We have done some full
server and full volume restores and have seen, or maybe I should say have
not seen ;-), problems with rights coming back. Not all rights mind you just
some directories.

Gail,
The NetWare client does backup and restore trustee rights at the
directory
level.
Also, you can restore only directories by using the command line
client and
adding
the -dirsonly option.
You may want to look thru the html file sent with the NetWare client
entitled
ntwback.htm. It should be installed along with the NLM. This gives
some
pointers on NDS backup and restore.

Subject: Netware / Trustee Rights
My user is very upset that we cannot restore 'just trustee
assignments for a
directory' in Netware client environments. We have ADSM 3.1.2.20
with the
Netware client 3.1.0.6 - It does state in the manual that 'trustee
rights' are
only kept at a file level -- We don't want to restore all of the
files -
apparently we just lost the 'Directory Services' and we restored
with a new
'Directory Service' which was empty --
Does anyone have any input on this process -- is ADSM planning on
incorporating this function in the future? My user was 'awfully
surprised'
when he realized that ADSM doesn't backup up 'trustee assignments'
at the
directory level (please prove us wrong!)
TIA ---
