It apparently hasn't been decided (yet) if ADSM/VM V3 will be
available on HESC (until current contracts expire). I certainly hope so
and have talked with anyone that will listen at IBM and, to a lesser
extent, at Tivoli. Many IBMers have offered help and to make the
appropriate contacts, but none have (said they) have followed through
(yet).

On an ADSM server-platform independent note ...

I don't recall if I've posted on this forum in this thread, but Tivoli does
appear to recognize ADSM (all platforms) as a new area and new
EDU opportunity. I suggest that you contact your Tivoli rep or other
Tivoli/IBM/ADSM contacts with suggestions.

Also apparent from my conversations, Tivoli is rather unprepared for
licensing such "tiny" programs as ADSM. When recently asked about
another program (in the past costing a few (as in count them on one
hand) thousand dollars per year), they offered a great deal that would
be multiple HUNDRED thousand dollars per year. That other program
licensing will be worked out, but we're obviously very small potatoes up
here in Maine. :-)

Without significant input to Tivoli marketing from EDU readers of this
message, ADSM may not be prime-time at many EDU sites.

On the positive side, I'd love for Tivoli to come up with EDU licensing
that would omit HESCs primary failing: 80% "academic", defining
many academic support areas, though part of the EDU mission and
support, as non-HESC.

Something to soften the server cost and eliminate the client cost would
be most welcome at U Maine System!

Other comments?
