Yes, I use FORMAT=DRIVE. In defining the device class, I used the
following command:

DEFINE DEVCLASS 7331_LIB1 DEVTYPE=8MM FORMAT=DRIVE LIBRARY=TAPELIBRARY1
MOUNTRETENTION=1 MOUNTLIMIT=DRIVES
