Chris,

The .dsm files are created during a successful new installation of ADSM, but
it is optional in the newer version of the server.  Did you see the screen
asking to create the .dsm files and did you answer yes?  That would create
new, empty storage pool volumes (.dsm files) for the backuppool and
archivepool.  These are too small to be useable, however, so you would have
to create new files anyway. If you had moved all the data out of those files
before the upgrade, you wouldn't care.  If not, you're going to care.

Usually, during an ADSM installation, you would have gotten rid of the .dsm
files in the server directory on put new .dsm on other data disks.

The database restore that you performed will not recreate the storage pool
volumes.
