When you use private tapes you explicitly define them to a pool:
define vol UX00021 copypool
for instance.
So, you could create a range of tapes that will be assigned to copypool.
Define them, and then an automated checkin procedure might look like this:
checkin libvol libname search=yes checklabel=barcode status=scratch
checkin libvol libname search=yes checklabel=barcode status=private
In this fashion, any tapes that get placed into the library will be checked
in correctly. One wants to do the status=scratch checkin first, because
doing it the other way around gets all tapes set up as private.
A couple of caveats:
All tapes had better be labeled prior to either of these checkins. ADSM
HATES UNLABELED TAPES.
If you are using a 3494, the syntax above isn't quite right, and this may be
the case for other robots as well.
