Hi Michael,

for the 9740 STK, you can see the firmware version on the LCD Panel
without stop yours backups jobs (of course !). On the LCD Panel, there
are 2 buttons which are MENU and EXECUTE.
On the LCD Panel, "ONLINE, Press EXEC to unlock CAP"
1 - press MENU
The LCD display "Press EXEC to run Diag"
2 - press MENU
The LCD display "Press EXEC to examine FSC"
3 - press MENU
The LCD display "Press Exec to view Config"
At this point, don't worry ! You cannot modify the configuration of
the robot, you 've just to press on the MENU BUTTON and see all
paramaters of the robot.
The firmware version is the last parameter.

At the end, the LCD will display "Press EXEC to exit this menu" : Do
this and you return to "View Config", so press Menu (4 times i think
!) to see "Press EXEC to exit this menu" and the LCD will return to
"ONLINE, press Exec to unlock CAP".

NB : the firmware certified by STK for DLT7000 is V85 and for the 9740
STK, it is the 1.9.52.

Be-careful to put the Fast Load option to Enabled !!

I think you cannot see the firmware (robot/drive) with ADSM commands,
but with DIAG command of AIX, you can see the firmware of them (VPD
material). Of course, you must know the ID SCSI/ID of the SCSI board
of which robot/drive are connected.

Chris.
