DLT 4000 data and DLT 7000 Drives

Subject: DLT 4000 data and DLT 7000 Drives

Does anyone have experience with Data written to DLT tape from 4000 drives
and then upgrading a library to 7000 drives and still being able to read the
tapes.

Are the 7000's backward compatible?
We are going from STK 9730's to 9714's.
