Network transfer is the raw speed of the network.  So it's data sent
divided by time on the network.  Aggregate is data sent divided by elapsed
time for the backup operation, including all the messing around.  There is
a real good description of all of this in the performance tuning paper
available on the ADSM web site.

Your network transfer rate will usually be near the maximum speed you can
expect to see on the network in question.
