We have been looking into a variety of approaches to recreating destroyed
systems. Disk image backups won't work unless the replacement hardware is
identical to the destroyed hardware, or very close to identical. We have
generally not been able to arrange for identical replacement hardware when
setting up contingency plans for disaster recovery.
