After doing some testing with the NT client (PTF5), it appears
that John is correct. In spite of what the documentation says
(the NT docs say pretty much the same thing as the Unix docs do),
using the wildcard character in directory names seems to be fully
supported, both under NT and Unix clients.

The only situation where the behavior of the two clients seems to
diverge is that the Unix client does backup the directory entry
(...\*.ft), whereas the NT client does not.

I believe a change to the documentation is in order.
