Win NT Client: Assertion Failed Error during Backup

I have a problem with a WinNT Client.
During the backup of a Volume ( 2GB), the Program aborts
with a messagebox :
Microsoft C++ Runtime, Assertion failed, in Program dsm.exe
file: dsmem.c
line: 1415 ( or 1560, sometimes)
Statement: CB_HDRP ((char*)blkP_FB.SIZE(blkP))->prevFree==0
something like this )

The backup of two volumes runs without any problems, next volume  fails.

The Client is Version 3.1.06 (English USA) , running on WinNT 4.0 Server
Serv.pack 3 English. The inetserv32 package is installed.

A error like this was posted in Dezember 98, the recommendation in the APAR
is to install the english version.
The whole system is using english versions .
