You don't say how large the filesystem is, how much is free, or whether
/etc/security/limits restricts your maximum filesize on your system.  By default
the max. file size is 1 GB on AIX for all including root.  This is a soft
administrative limit.  I note that the total amount transfered after two failed
attempts is 2.0 GB.  Coincidence?  I think not!
