It depends on what you're doing with it. For me, DLT is the prefferred medium - because I run a moderate number of humongous files daily to tape. If you're using ADSM more as originally designed, for lots of small incremental backups, the MagStar drives have much better start-stop performance. The DLT drives are really built for data streaming.
And smaller tapes are *much* easier to reclaim! I have to wait until I'm down below 10% utilization before running reclaim, because 10% of 97 GB is still 9.7 GB and takes up to an hour to process.
