Once again don't figure it up ....

Now we have:

stgpool1 = m
stgpool2= 1
stgpool3=ec

mgmt class c1= retension settings no 1
mgmt class c2=retension settings no 2
mgmt class c3= "no limit" retension

I must backup dir1.1,dir1.2,dir1.3 with all the files & subdirectories
beneath.
I must backup dir2.1,dir2.2,dir2.3 with all the files & subdirectories
beneath.

Procedure 1 - day by day:

1. Backup my dir1.1,dir1.2,dir1.3 through c1 in stgpool name "m"
2. Backup my dir2.1,dir2.2, dir2.3 through c2 in stgpool name "1"

Procedure 2 - certain moments of time

1. Backup my dir1.1,dir1.2,dir1.3 through mgmt name "c3" in stgpool name
"ec"
2. Backup my dir2.1,dir2.2, dir2.3 through mgmt name "c3" in stgpool name
"ec"

Now:

I do procedure no 2 - my files get "no limit" due to mgmt c3.
Next day I do procedure no 1 - my files get retension settings due to mgmt c1
& c2

My files saved the day before got expired after the no of days set in the c1 &
c2. This already happened .

Dwight Cook sugestion: use move data.

Let me see if I understood well:

1. Set default management class to c3
2. Move data from tape ( no limit ) to somewhere else - another stgpool=volopt

3. Move data from volumes within volopt back to the tape storage pool.
At this time my files in the tape storage pools are bound to the mgmt c3 with
" no limit ".

After next day due to the procedure no 1 my files from the storage pool volopt
won't be
again rebound to mgmt name c1 & c2?

How can I have in the adsm database copies of the same files and directories
with different
retension settings and on different storage pools?

Thank you all for your help, especially Dwight who always had patience.

Best regards,

Mihai iancu
