Actually, I cannot speak for NT, but on Solaris, the lb/mt drivers are
only used for non-IBM libraries. The 3575, being an IBM library, using
the IBMtape drivers (st for drives, smc for library).

Here is my L12, which is 1/2 of a L24:

dsm> q library 3575 f=d

                  Library Name: 3575

3575-2 D4-2 3570 /dev/rmt/10st Yes
DLT4700 DLT4000 DLT /dev/rmt/17mt Yes
MANUAL_DLT DLT7000 DLT /dev/rmt/16mt Yes

Notice that the DLT's use lb/mt. The IBMtape equiv. of lbtest is tapeutil
in /opt/IBMtape.

Depending on how your 3575 is configured, it may have a changer accessible
as lun1 on all four drives. This allows you to still communicate with the
library if the drive you are using fails...just update your library to use
one of the other device files in /dev/rmt. This was also necessary for
IBM to allow the library to be partitioned into multiple logical
libraries.

Hope this helps.
