Hi,
If you use HP vxfs (OnlineJFS) snapshot feature, you need one lvol per
fs, but you don't have to split your mirroring. Lvol size demand depends
on your system activity during the backup.
OM can be suspended for a moment of doing snapshot i.e. about 60 -120
sec, so users see only their client to freese for a moment.
