ADSM tapes created by the EXPORT command are portable between systems that
support the same devices.  A 3590 export tape created on MVS using the 3590
devtype can be used to import on AS/400 using the 3590 devtype.  This does not
include emulation mode devices (a 3590 tape drive on MVS that is emulating a
3490 cannot be used to export tapes to other platforms) or the file device
class.
Database backups are not portable across platforms, they were not designed to
be so, and include a lot of information that is platform specific.
