I'm
running EBU 2.2.0.5 against an Oracle 7.3.3 database. I'm seeing
intermittent core dumps by EBU both when backing up and restoring
databases. The core dumps occur just when EBU attempts to connect with the
backup catalog. The message is "Starting Catalog Database
verification" and then it dumps core.
We
have run successful backups and restores with this installation. The
problem seems to be intermittent, although if we see this problem, rerunning the
command will consistently cause errors.
On one
occasion, we reset ORACLE_HOME to 7.3.4 (from 7.3.3) reran the command, and as
expected, it failed because the tnsnames file was not setup for that
ORACLE_HOME. Setting ORACLE_HOME back to 7.3.3 fixed the
problem.
On
another occasion, simply logging out and logging back in fixed the
problem.
There
is no possibility of typo's for any environment variables - we are running
everything from scripts.
Has
anyone seen this before? I have heard that there is a 2.2.0.6 fix out, but
have not yet installed it.
Info:
AIX v4.2
Oracle 7.3.3
EBU 2.2.0.5
ADSMConnect Agent for Oracle 2.1.0.7
ADSM Server 3.1.2.0
Oracle (Backup Catalog) v7.3.4
Thanks,
David
