You didn't specify with what relative userid you are attempting this, or by
what method you were seeking the data.
Unless there is an ADSM defect, it *sounds* like you are attempting to perform
the operations from a userid which doesn't own the data (particularly after
ownership change).  Do it from a superuserid, using a command like
    dsmc q backup -su=y -di -ina
to see just the directories.  (Note that the GUI and CLI differ in what they
will show about the data, as in the GUI being loathe to display info about
directories and the CLI not wanting to display file detail.)  Certainly, ADSM
has full information about directories; it's just sometimes awkward to get
that info from it.
