I think that the "Core OS" does not have enough files for Solaris to
run very well. In particular it is missing most of the message files
and possibly some shared libraries.

The package that is probably missing is "SUNWloc (System Localization)"

Found that out playing with JumpStart and wanting to install a small a
system as possible. According to our local SunService people, the
"Core OS" is not a valid OS. It certianly gave (err) interesting
error messages when I tried to make it run.

On trussing: the "dsmc" program is actually a script that sets
environment variables then execs a binary (/opt/IBMadsm-c/sol26/dsmc).
You can try "truss -f" to see what it is really up to, or copy and
edit the shell script to do an "exec truss -f".

If you are getting "killed" that generally means a missing shared
library. truss should be able to tell you what ones it is trying to
load.
