Tina's right on - you should be making copies (backups of your
backups :->) of _all_ of your primary storage pools (disk _and_
tape) daily, in the same way that you back up your ADSM database.
Of course (under AIX, at least), you _could_ mirror
your disk storage pools, but that's generally not necessary.
Chapter 20 of the AIX Administrator's Guide goes over the options
quite thoroughly.

Something that I think may be often overlooked is that ADSM is a
*backup* mechanism - if your data doesn't get deleted on your
host machines frequently, the price of losing an ADSM storage
pool disk may not be too high. The ADSM *client* machine still
has its data (unless there's been a far-ranging catastrophe, or a
really coincident failure)... That's not to say that steps
shouldn't be taken to ensure the integrity of the ADSM server and
its data, just that I think sometimes it's possible to lose sight
of what ADSM's role in the enterprise may be. And YMMV.
