Boy I'll tell you one thing that made me rather urked...
You used to be able to connect to the adsm server and get the manuals
     through adsm itself such as
http://youradsm.server.amoco.com:1580/file:/usr/share/html/adsm/en_US/adsm.htm
But this went away ! Called IBM to report the problem and they said that was
never a supported function thus was not a problem that it went away ! ARGH!!!!
Said we could put in a request to have it recreated...
This WAS my major access to manuals for end users. Now I've had to tell my users
they are on their own and I point them at the IBM web page (which changed also
and took me forever to find where they moved it to) to download the manuals.

Andy Raibeck, if you are listening you might mention they had a perfect solution
to manuals, didn't even know about it, removed it, and don't have any plans to
put it back and at least one group of users realize that! (and more do now)

later,
      Dwight

PS I am sorry for this mainly negative message... I just think it is something
that should be pointed out.

We have ADSM server and clients on the AIX platform. When we were on
version 2, I had received a CD Rom of most of the AIX manuals (including
ADSM) in BookManager format (for Windows). I copied that to disk on an NT
file server where I had all the mainframe BookManager files, and all of us
in Information Systems use Library Reader for Windows to look at the manuals
this way.

Well, they quit shipping the AIX CD in BookManager format. I have the
hardcopy and know where the manuals are on the internet, but I no longer can
search the manuals to find information like I used to. Is there a search
function in the PDF or HTML books on the internet? If there is one, I
overlooked it. Our AIX sysadmin staff has never had much luck getting the
manuals to work from AIX (since they want to load it in one place and have
all our RS6000 boxes share it). Also, my AIX skills are not all that great.
I can use vi enough to get by, and I can code basic korn shell scripts, but
that's about it.

What does everyone else do?
