Sorry about the delay in replying - its been a bit mad recently.
Was just watching 2 migration processes (maxpr) running against a disk pool
to AIT tape. Both AIT drives are on the same SCSI bus, the disk pool is IBM
SSA and the server AIX. The 2 disks being hit by the migration processes
were each reporting 4500 to 5500 kb/s so giving a good idea of the tape
throughput, approx 5MB/s each.
Coupled with the high capacity, low cost of robotics and drives these are a
real winner for us. If anybody still thinks they're just dressed up Exabytes
take a closer look at the technology.
