NOTE ON BULK IO
I use the bulk io slots, and to open the side door, you have to bring the
tape library off-line. I find this difficult because the tape operators at
my company have "Forgotten" to exit and bring it back on line. So I have
since disabled the slots, and have an application that they can check them
out and in two at a time.. and this seems to work flawlessly.
Just a word hopefully there is some wisdom here

There are 2 things that you have to do to be able to use
the bulk i/o
slots on the 3494 library. First, your CE will need to
re-teach the library
so that it will know about the bulk I/O slots. You should
then be able to
use the "checkout libvol ... rem=bulk" command to have it
use those slots.
You can find a note on it in the "Administrators Reference"
(pg 79).
Once you have the bulk I/O set up, you can also test it
with this 'mtlib'
command : "mtlib -l /dev/lmcp0 -C -V A00001 -v -t FF11".
(this would put
volume A00001 into the bulk I/O slots). The category for
bulk I/O output is
FF11.
This URL and it's links can help you decipher that mtlib
command:

Subject: 3575 library bulk I/O
I am working with a 3575 (L-18) library. I would
like to use the
bulk
checkin/checkout door and I can find no
documentation on that. Can
someone please point me in the right direction? I
am using AIX
4.2.1
ADSM 3.1.0.5 on an H50.
Thanks, Ben
