I had similar problems of tape mounts. In my case, the problem was with
either the registry or directories. ADSM does not backup these files up to
the default mgmt class. It picks the first mgmt class it finds for the
domain with the longest file retention. In my case, that was the default
"direct-to-tape" mgmt class, not my default "to-disk" mgmt class. I tried
the DIRMC option to direct directories to the "to-disk" class with no
success. I finally solved the problem by reducing the retention on the
"direct-to-tape" class to one day less than the "to-disk" class. Magically
all my mysterious tape mounts disappeared and my operators thanked me :)
