maybe someone will be able to help.

problem:
when doing Informix (7.23UC1 on AIX 4.3.1) online backups to adsm (3.1.2.0)
with onbar it sometimes fails (unfortunately quite often).

this is what ADSM says (in console log):
ANR0534W Transaction failed for session session number for node node name
(client platform) -
size estimate exceeded and server is unable to obtain additional space in
storage pool pool name.

this is what onbar says (in $INFORMIXDIR/bar_act.log):

the questions are:

1) is there a way to estimate space needed for informix online backup?
2) do i need backup storage pool at least the size of largest database
(which is impossible)? i have read adsm redbooks and informix pdf's about
onbar, there's no such requirement. currently i have 1.6 GB backuppol on
disk
3) is there a relation between activity of database and required space to
backup database? (it seems that when activity is low it is easy to make a
backup)
