On AIX, if you start ADSM, it creates a file name adsmserv.lock. If you try to 
start ADSM server while
adsmserv.lock exists, you get the ADSM Server is already running from this 
directory message. The
adsmserv.lock file gets deleted when you halt ADSM, but it does not get deleted 
when you kill the ADSM
server using the kill command.  I noticed too that when you kill the ADSM 
server using the kill command, you
can still start the ADSM server even though the adsmserv.lock exists.
