Hi,
I have just attempted to perform a DB backup on ADSM, using the command :-
        BA  DB  TYPE=FULL  DEV=LIBRARY
but I am getting the following error messages. The deviceclass of LIBRARY
is the same one that is used when moving data from our DISK storagepool to
the TAPE storagepool.

ANR5965I Console command:  BA DB TYPE=FULL DEV=LIBRARY
ANR2280I Full database backup started as process 36.
ANR9999D PVRCART(1465): UCB Device Type bytes 3/4 are 20/0F, not a
recognized
                CARTRIDGE device.

ANR1404W Scratch volume mount request denied - mount failed.
ANR4578E Database backup/restore terminated - required volume was not
mounted.

The Deviceclass LIBRARY is defined as follows:-
DEFINE DEVCLASS LIBRARY DEVTYPE=Cartridge MAXCAPACITY=0K ESTCAPACITY=819200K
PREFIX=ADSM MOUNTLIMIT=2 MOUNTRETENTION=1 EXPIRATION=99365 MOUNTWAIT=60
UNIT=CART COMPRESSION=Yes PROTECTION=No

Our ADSM server runs on an OS/390 Mainframe (MVS). The messages manual
seems to indicate a possible error in the Deviceclass definition, but I
don't understand why that can be, if it is used ok by other ADSM processes.

Is anyone able to assist me, or point me in a particular direction. Or
should I just call IBM support...??
