Stolen from an earlier note by Mr. Lawson. The following words are all his!

Yes you can - assuming your management class is kind and still is keeping a
good copy.

You need to restore two files - the names will vary depending on your
machine. They are kept in the directory

     c:\ADSM.SYS\REGISTRY\machine\USERS\username\

where "machine" is the name of your machine to the network, and "username" is
the NT user id that is logged on when the REGREST is executed. The file
names are "username000" and "username000.KEY" where username is again the
logged on username.

Since you can't get old versions through the REGREST command - here is what I
did.

1. Did a regular restore of the files via a regular ADSM restore, selecting
the appropriate inactive copies. Be sure that the two files are from the
same backup - that they are in synch with each other.

2. Backup these two files, so that they now become the active copies. If
you use the V3 command line GUI client, you may need to select "Always
backup" in the "Type of backup" box at the bottom of the panel.

3. Do a REGREST now - it will pick up the files you just saved, since they
are now the latest version of the files. Don't forget to reboot when the
restore is complete.

Hope this helps.....

Our current backup of our nt registry is a backup of bad registry (done last
night) We now want to restore from 2 days ago. We have tried it with a regrest
with a -pi but we keep getting errors. Will this work ? Is there another way to
restore an old reg stry????
