     Hi:  We have had this problem with our MVS V2 server for a long long
     time.  We narrowed it down to the possibility that Macs and Win-32
     nodes in the same schedule caused a conflict that allowed the Macs to
     backup but the Wins did not.  We reported this to IBM and had an open
     record for a looong time, recently closed it only because we are
     moving on to ver 3.  Todd Owarcyzak (sp?) will recognize this problem,
     so will Andy Raiback.

     Our fix has been to keep separate schedules for the Macs and the
     Windows machines.  I tested combined schedules on our v3 AIX server
     and found no similar problem.  I was able to recreate the problem in a
     very controlled way, the problem may have been localized to a specific
     schedule.  One thing we did not try was create a new schedule with
     same characteristics and just move the nodes to it and abandon the old
     schedule.

     The problem occurs in both prompted and polled schedmode though the
     details in the schedlog were a bit different . . .as one would expect.

     The client contacts the server, gets a schedule and waits.  The time
     for the backup comes and goes.  Then after the backup window the
     client contacts the server for a new schedule the next day and waits.
     Everything looks normal in the log except the backup never happens.

Hello out in ADSM land another fantastic friday is upon us And of course I have
a new dilema.
I'm running version2 on my MVS server(yes I know soon to go ver3) and I'm
running a lot of various clients(v2 and v3) mostly os2 in scheduler prompted
mode. Up until 2 nights ago schedules were running normal. Here's the problem:
it seems that some clients are not getting contacted to initiate the scheduled
backup.  I've checked the schedule log and the error log and neither have any
updates for the last two days. The Mvs server log has no info about any attempts
to contact the client to initiate the backup. Why? can anyone point me in the
direction of an answer?
