It's interesting how a question to compare products turned into an adsm/ibm
bashing spree!

Yes, ADSM has it's problems. No, it does not do 100% of everything that
everyone wants. Does any product?

I worked on the ADSM help desk for about a year and found that probably
90%-95% of performance issues was due to the underlying structure that adsm
has to use (network, disk/directory layout, etc), or simply tuning
parameter settings, and not ADSM itself. That was with V2, and I know that
a lot of performance issues were dealt with in V3.

ADSM is a very complex client/server product. I've stated this when I
worked for IBM, and I'll state it here: probably the best thing that IBM
could do is supply a big-bucks discount card for training when a customer
purchases ADSM. And have the sales people insist that the customer take
training.

So, Jeff. I think out of the two dozen messages I seen with this subject
heading, you got at least two that actually answered your question. I would
also like to suggest that you get hold of the Gartner Group with your
request.

I quess I should state that these opinion are mine, mine, mine, and not
necessarily the view of my employee...
