Daniel,
        We have 2 3494's with 3-4 ADSM servers attached to each. We use 
different
volume prefixes for tapes we intend for use by each server and use a script
for the checkin process that gets a list (via mtlib) of all tapes in FF00
and performs an individual checkin on each. This script checks that the
prefix is correct before it will check in the tape.
The danger you have is that while an ADSM server will not check its own
tapes in as scratch it may do so to other server's tapes. Another even more
secure option is to define all tapes from other servers as private volumes
(the entire range eg xxx000 - xxx999) to stip them being accidentally
checked in.
