Just a note on Matt's second paragraph dealing with reclamation. Actually,
with version 3, you CAN use both drives for reclamation. In a sequential
storage pool, you can point to another storage pool as a staging area for
reclamation. Of course, reclamation would run lot faster if you pointed
this staging area to a dasd pool. Also, you would have to make sure that
the libraries did not try to run reclamation at the same time.

This is an accurate statement. Since ADSM associates drives with a
particular library, and further to a particular device class, you will have
to define a new library, new drives and new device classes to ADSM. This
will further require new storage pool definitions, as they are tied to the
device classes. The way I try to remember this is that ADSM wants to be
able to mount any tape into any drive in the library. So, if you had two
physically separate libraries, ADSM couldn't mount a tape that resides in
library "A" into a drive in library "B".

One of my customers is in this situation today. He has two 3590-B11 drives
with ACLs, which end up looking to ADSM as two mini-libraries. Since the
drives are defined within two separate libraries, he can't do reclamation
with his two drives.

You say you have a 3570, is it actually a 3575? How many slots does it
have? Certain models of the 3575 are upgradable to more slots & drives, so
if you have the right one, you could make it bigger instead of buying a
second. If you really have a 3570 (20 slots, 2 drives) then you will need
to buy another.

Let me know if I can help further...
