We archive ingress to a dedicated archive pool that goes to the 3575.
The offline checkpoint script checkpoints, archive deletes then repeats for
the next db.
We use archive so that we can keep versions for varying periods of time,
and the dba can control the versions.
We also backup other (journal etc) files hourly.

We have stopped compressing the ckp files (on disk, by nfs, or by adsm
client), we have a 100mbs ethernet card and get 4:1 compression on the
3575.

A caution is that Ingress checkpoint does not verify the db, keep versions
to the point that the db was known to be consistent, or verify to /dev/null
periodically.
