As I have commented to this list before on this same subject...this
functionality is available through other vendors, HOWEVER, from what I
hear, at a great expense of time.  Any of the people on the Exchange
discussion list that I have seen commenting on this explain that it is
quite cumbersome, and extremely SLOW.  In essence it involves creatring
a PST-like copy of individual mailboxes.  For this reason they only use
this functionality for a select few mailboxes, not the entire database.
We don't know how we would select those few mailboxes, as our restores
are generally advertised as available for all users.

If you have some data on backup windows in relation to database size, I
would be interested in seeing it.  But, unless we can get this
functionality for the entire database within a reasonable backup window,
we aren't interested (from any vendor).  I agree with the IBM comment,
it's up to MS to include this functionality.  So, it's Microsoft we
should be petitioning for a response.
