If the scheduler is running as a service and the schedule being run references
a UNC name directly
than the service must be running under a domain authorised account.

Running under the local system account (which is the default) won't work
because
this account doesn't have any access to domain resources.

This could explain why GUI works and the scheduler doesn't.

Try logging the service in as a domain admin account.

Stefan,

I assume that your last machine is an NT machine? What about the hg_alvb17?
Is it trying the back up the local
drive or hg_alvb17 is a remote 95 or 98 machine? If it's a remote drive on a
95/98 machine, the message that
you're receiving is correct. The system cannot resolve a remote drive on a
95/98 machine using the default UNC
name. On machine hg_alvb17, you can define drive D as shared with the name
"D$" then it will be able to back
it up.

Subject: Error ANS4007E on backup using 3.1.05 WinNT 32-bit client

Hi,

i have a problem with the new 3.1.05 WinNT 32-bit-client.
We installed the new client on 5 Machines. 4 machines are
backing up without a problem. The scheduler on the last
machine prompts the following error:

30.08.1998 23:00:07 ANS1134E Drive \\hg_alvb17\d$ is an invalid drive
specification
30.08.1998 23:00:07 ANS1512E Scheduled event 'SCH.NTFS.I.VB' failed. Return
code = 4.

Backing up this drive with the GUI is running fine.

Can anyone help me ?

    thanks
        Stefan Seibt
