The history.vol file found in the admserv directory shows the slots the tapes 
are in

I've looked through the archives, but missed this:

Is there some straightforward way to determine which tape is in
which slot of my (auto) tape library from within ADSM?  Seems to me that
the database should know where the tape was last seen (move drm tells me
which slot to remove the tape from); I want to do a select and run a macro
to print out for vaulting.  I suppose I could get the info via a select on
ACTLOG and then use awk (or perl) to grab what I want, but I'd think there
would be an easier way...

Hardware is the IBM 7337 running on an RS/6000 H50 (AIX 4.2.1, ADSM v3.1.1.3),
if it matters.
