I had also tried all the combinations with and without quotes. Nothing
helped.

The only way I can get it to work on a version 3 client & server is to
specify the file space. So, I wrote a script that issues an lsfs and pulls
off the filesystems that begin with essbasedata, and it generates this
command:
dsmc archive /essbasedata/lvessbase01/* /essbasedata/lvessbase02/*
/essbasedata/lvessbase03/* -archmc=30days -su=y

I wish I could do it the same way that works on version 2. I guess that
means I'll have to check my archive jobs when I upgrade to make sure they
still work.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

Tina
