Why do you think they would be "so much faster"?  The NetApp's job, just
like the Auspex fileservers, is to serve out data over NFS, and they have
CPU's just for this purpose.  Usually, the CPU that the OS for a machine
like the NetApp runs on is slow.  I think that the fastest method for
backing up specialized servers like the NetApp and Auspex are to exploit
it's strength's, which means as NFS mountpoint on the ADSM Server itself.
I tried the SunOS client on our Auspex, and the performance was dismal.  I
would guess that running a native client on the NetApp to perform
similarly, IMHO.
