I was at an IBM dog & pony show a couple months ago...
Talked about the IBM 3466 Network Storage Manager, Seascape: IBM's
     Storage Enterprise Architecture, etc...

I asked, "If we're building these SAN's to centralize storage will
there be an ADSM interface to link directly into the Network Storage
Manager and back up the data right off of that without necessarily
moving the data across the SAN to the client machine in order to move
it across the network again to get it to the ADSM server?" (then only
minimal characteristics of the data would have to be retrieved from
     the actual host/adsm client)

The answer was "You have to walk before you can run BUT it would be
expected"... I about got the feeling I'd just earned someone at IBM a
     bonus ;-)

Has anyone heard what IBM is doing in regard to Storage Area Networks,
and integration with ADSM / leading RDBMs?

Thanks,
