Hello Daniel,
Okay, two things:
1) Do you have an account called "test" on your AIX machine?
The account you specify with mkwspswd must match the account
on AIX.
2) When starting webshell, don't use "webstart". Instead, use:
webshell 2121 /usr/lpp/adsm/bin/wsstuff
You can use a different port number than 2121 if you wish.
/usr/lpp/adsm/bin/wsstuff is where the password generated by
mkwspswd is located. The port number and directory are the defaults.

Yes, the Webshell Client is what I'm trying to setup. I have
installed the fileset and I ran mkwspswd to create an account.
Then I ran webstart and I got:
(root@host) /usr/lpp/adsm/bin: webstart
starting webshell from ./
Listening on port: 2121
URL is: http://host:2121/webshell
And I am able to connect to the URL listed, however, my userid
and password will not work.
I'm not sure if I need to make some changes to the /etc/httpd.conf
file. I'm not really sure if it even uses this file or not.
I also run mkwspswd l and get:
(root@host) /usr/lpp/adsm/bin/wsstuff: mkwspswd l
User test, type a, password test
Any ideas?
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
Are you talking about the Webshell Client or the Web Admin? The Webshell
Client
is for performing backup and restore operations, and the Web Admin is for
administering your ADSM server.
To use the Web Admin, you need to have these lines in your server's
dsmserv.opt file:
commmethod http
httpport 1580
(note that the httpport 1580 is the default)
Restart the ADSM server, then point your web browser to:
http://server:1580
where "server" is the IP address of your ADSM server.
If you're trying to use the Webshell Client, then you need to configure it
on
the
client machine you intend to operate on. For example, if you want to do
backup
and
restore operations on Jan's machine from your own workstation, you need to
configure
the Webshell client on Jan's machine. The
..\adsm\baclient\wsstuff\wsreadme.html
file gives information for configuring the Webshell client.
Good luck!
Andy

OS = AIX 4.2.1
ADSM = Version 3, Release 1, Level 0.3
Is the web client only for the ADSM server? Can it be used to do
ADSM client side functions?
I am having a problem getting it to work correctly on my system
and I wasn't sure if it should even work since I'm trying to get
it to work on one of the ADSM clients.
Thanks,
Daniel
