I like to have many smaller volumes.  If I don't have RAID, then I'll
spread these small volumes across the disks for obvious reasons.  If I do
have RAID, I still like to have more small volumes since if I make a
mistake in sizing I can reallocate volumes of data easier.  For instance,
if I make a database too large and find the recovery log is too small, I
can take a volume away from the database, reformat it for a log volume and
define it to the log.

The same applies for my storage pool volumes.  Create lots of small ones.
 Then if you need to move volume around among your pools, you can do it
relatively easily by issuing move data and delete volume, define volume
commands.

I'd do it this way unless I was absolutely positively sure I knew the
environment perfectly.  Seems I remember a thread a while back where a
veteran ADSM dude wanted to reduce the size of his database.  The thread
went on for days and the heartache involved was tremendous.  Perhaps a
small rehash by the "dude" is in order.
