At first, you have to point your bottleneck. If your OS/390 cpu is "full",
it makes no sense to pay for better network. ADSM and TCPIP have high
consumption of cpu services. Using a 16 Mbit TR, you may have a theoretical
maximal throughput of round 9 GB/h, shared by 7 nodes (plus additional
traffic between other members in the ring?), effective rates may be not
more than 6GB/h. Perhaps you can check if client compression is on (high
cpu consumption on client!) to reduce network traffic. I don't know about
'special' solutions, I just ask my network colleagues.
