I talked to Oracle and they said that "Short write detected for file" is a
different error from
aiowrite() error.

Short write error is issued under many different circumstances:
 if disk quota is up
 if using the raw devices, the partition that trying to restore has smaller
size than the original size
 if using file system, the file system doesn't have enough disk space
